I currently have Symantec Endpoint Protection version 11.0.5002.333 installed as an unmanaged client on my Windows 7 machine. This machine is not connected to a local network or any other machine. It is a stand alone computer. However, I do use it to connect to the internet and for email.
With the end of service for version 11 I want to test version 12 as an unmanaged client on this machine before deciding if I want to purchase it.
I downloaded the trialware file "Symantec_Endpoint_Protection_12.1.5_Part1_Trialware_EN.exe" from the Symantec web site. I ran that file and it unpacked the file. I saved he unpacked files in a seperate folder. I ran the setup.exe file from that folder and the installation process began. I was given the option to install Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager, but the option to install an unmanged client is grayed out.
How can I install Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.5 as an unmanged client on this machine so I can test it out before making a decision for purchase it?
Am I testing out the correct version of Endpoint Protection for this stand alone machine?
