I am trying to identify a conflict I am having with thirty base units doing exactly the same thing.
Symantec is installed on a group policy for all machines, dvd / cd burning is write enabled.
When trying to burn wav audio files to disc via media player, the burn process on media player gets to 99% then I get the blue screen of death.
On the blue screen of death Sidney.sys is highlighted. I beleive this file is part of symantec.
I have tried to disable the eject cd once cd has burnt and i still get the BSOD. I have also tried burning the .WAV files directly from the c: drive rather than the network and the same thing happens, BSOD.
When checking the DVD writers drivers, cdrom.sys is listed and also sidney.sys is listed.
If i take the cd that i have tried to burn out of the dvd writer and try to play it back it plays fine.
I am guessing windows media player is trying to talk back to the operating system to tell it, that it has finished it's burn cycle, but then Symantec intervenes... crashing the pc.
Has anyone come across this before and if so, how can i get the above to work without the BSOD.
Once again this does not just happen, on one machine but thirty with the same problem.
Any help would be greatly apreciated.
Regards,
Lee
