MS Outlook Connector & Symantec Encryption Desktop/Email

I am experimenting with Windows 7 Ultimate x64 / Symantec Encryption Desktop and Microsoft Outlook Connector x64 in order that I migrate my employees to this new system.

I understand that Microsoft Outlook Connector uses a proprietary protocol called "DeltaSync" in order to sync calendars, emails, contacts, etc.  I believe that it connects to Outlook.com using SSL.

Is this why the email encryption component of Symantec Encryption desktop DOES NOT WORK WITH MS OUTLOOK CONNECTOR????

It worked before using POP and IMAP.

Any help or direction in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
