I am newly dealing with a Sharepoint 2007 web application which has "Symantec protection 6.0 for Sharepoint server" installed. Suddenly one day it was reported clients were no longer able to upload documents is document library. Whenever they were trying they were prompted with a message "Virus Found". The files were not at all virus infected. In Central administration, everything was configured properly. Also we didn't have anything in Sharepoint logs. The fix was restarting the service - "Symantec protection 6.0 for Sharepoint server". After restart, files uploaded successfully into the document library.
After a couple of days we had the same issue and we tried restarting the service. This time that didn't even work. As we had no clue, we had to re-install the software - "Symantec protection 6.0 for Sharepoint server". After reinstallation once again files uploaded successfully into the document library.
We don't have the root cause yet why Symantec protection 6.0 sometimes acts curiously. Need help to get a hold of this. Any idea why this is happening ?
Do we need to upgrade to Symantec protection 6.0.5 ? (Antivirus definition in Central administration - Jun, 2012, could that be a possible reason ? )
