Hi,
I have tried to update the antivirus and antispyware definitions for Symantec Endpoint Protection by clicking on "Fix" in the "Status" window, which launches LiveUpdate. LiveUpdate runs to completion (output copied at end of message), but the warning message remains and the date for the definitions stays the same (I have tried this several times, rebooting after each attempt).
My laptop was never turned on during late September to March (I was overseas) so I can't explain why the definitions for Proactive Threat Protection and Network Threat Protection being January 2015. The last time I ran an update was before I left for overseas in mid September 2014 (date of Antivirus and Antispyware Protection).
I have misplaced the CD to uninstall/reinstall the program, so that troubleshooting option isn't available to me. I have tried to locate the c:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\VirusDefs (as detailed in this post: https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/antivirus-antispyware-protection-definitions-out-date-client-warning) but there is no such folder in my directory.
Is there a way I can fix this? I'm sure my laptop is as sick as a dog with viruses and malware!
When it comes to software you can consider me illiterate so an easy to follow response would be much appreciated.
Many thanks,
Dean
