We have a SEPM server running Server 2003 SEPM 12.1.4 we want to retire. We have another 2008 R2 SEPM 12.1.5 server with a few hundreds clients on it already we want to migrate our 2003 server clients to (the SEPM servers are not connected)
I read all the migration documents and tried using the SyLink drop utility. That causes the client to disconnect and report "The request was not in the expected format" when trying to connect to the new server.
So I then tried exporting a new client installation from the new management server (checking to delete policies, and logs) and install it on the effected client, with the same results.
I even tried adding the new SEPM as a primary managment server in the communications list, with the same results. On one client I even did a cleanwipe, and it still won't talk to the new management server.
This seems to always be an issue when we need a client to talk to a new managment server. What is the proper way to do this? because the material I have read does not work in our enviroment at all.
